Famine 30..........

I guess.... I'm just like the others. I joined Famine 30 hours is mainly b'coz of Nic. If he's not the ambassador and will be performing in the concert most probably I won't be joining. Really sorry for saying this. Really guilty b'coz i decide to join not b'cuz of helping others but it's to go after the idol. I'm really nervous n excited about going to the Famine. Nervous cuz we dun allowed food for 30 hours. Excited cuz will be able to see Prince Teo and is joining the NFC activities for the first time. Sept/15 thru Sept/16 2007.... is the starving days. I woke up at 3 am cuz I'm very very "more" and Irene (NFC) will be picking me up at 5 am. I took an early bath and washed my hair as well cuz we are not allowed to bath during the camp. After an hour long of bathing, i dressed up and applied some basics make-up. After I'm well-prepared with myself, I do a final luggage check up. Once cfrmed that everything is being packed, I do some tidying up for my lit'l room. Once done, thr I'm rady to go. I went d/stairs to wait for Irene to come n also SMSed to Daniel to wake him up. haha..... Irene came ard 6am and we proceed with our b/fast plan in McD. After b/fast we start our journey to Bkt. Jalil ard 7am. We reached stadium ard 10. An hour late cuz we took the wrong direction. We are the last group to arrived and we need to wait for others as well. While waiting, the organisers instructed us to registered ourself. Aunty Kelly then lead us to the awaiting area. There a 17 person in a group but our group is slightly more. hehe..... I'm in the same group with Irene, Daniel, Jia Xin, Aunty Kelly, Fion, Theresa, Xiao Boy (most are NFC members) n etc.... We are the group 78. Once all the members are ard, the group leader (Xin Hui) lead us to the Stadium's Arena. She then distributed us the Orange Tee and 2 bottles of water. We are still allowed food as long as we did it before 12pm. Once everything done, we quickly go to grab sth to eat. We had a karipap and an egg tart and it's our last meal before we started the Famine 30. Quite suprisingly when the emcess, Ken n William told us that Miss Chinese International Pageant 2007 finalist were there to be with us. They are really pretty and have good body figure too. Really envy on them. haha ! Once the event started, the emcess lead us to do Mexican Waves that act as the ice-breaker. We did it for a few times before we proceed with the group ice breaking section. We are asked to draft a picture of ourself and pass it to the Group Leader. Then, she'll show us the potrait and we are to guess who's in the potrait. I guess mine is easiest to guess cuz I'm the only one with curly hair. haha ! After that, we are being shown with slides of the previous years famines. After that, we are asked to keep our luggage on top of the chairs as we are going to start with the opening ceremony soon. At 2 pm sharp the opening ceremony started. Then, we had the 1st Famine Challege, that's to had a wet string thru our shoulders and tied it with the rest of the members and get the water bottles up. Once done, we are being de-brief on the purpose. In the urban area, children are fed with dirty drinking water and some are infected with a worm named Guinee Worm. This worm will grow in their body till it as long as 3 M. It can only be taken out using clean n safe drinking water. I nearly cried looking at the pictures where that kids are suffering and trying to fight with this guinee worm. We then proceed with Famine Challege 2, that's to build a shelter using all the materials that we have. Being not very creative n with very limited materials we dcide to use "Dong Liang's" banner to built as fence. The we use all the newspapers to build as the roof and wall. Not a very pleasant and stable shelter. The Emcee, William even tease us saying that as long as thr's Dong Liang a good shelter is no longer important to us. Haha ! We juz laugh it off lor... But i do feel proud wit other NFC angels gfrom other groups that have done it so well. We really got no idea on building a hse / shelter with such limited material moreover we are not the creative gang. After a brief viewing thru all the shelters, we proceed to a de-brief on why are we requested to built a shelter. Thru the de-brief by we get to know that the childs / family in teh urban areas are living in such a bad condition that I think most of us can't bear to live in. After that, it's our free time. We have a rest before it proceed with Famine Quiz and Famine Showcase at 7.30 PM. As it's a free seating, we rush to get the best place that we can in order to see Prince Teo in a closer view. We called it a day after the showcase. We collected our luggage and choose a place to sleep with the rest of the campers in the Arena. I suppose to hardly fall in sleep for the floor is super duper hard but i slept not long cuz it's a tiring day and I dun woke up early that night.

Sept/16 2007....

I woke up ard 6.30 am and go straight to get myself clean up and of cuz apply a lit'l make up. After that we had a nice chat and do some hse-keeping as well as keeping our luggage back to the side seats. As I dun joined in any of the religious activities, I just sat thr and chat ard with the rest of the NFC angels. Sharp at 8 am we start of with a simple Yoga session and also a meditation section. Irene n I dun really pay much attn for we nearly fall asleep in this session. Then, we have our Famine Challege 3. We are splitted in 2 small groups. Then we are given a piece of paper asking us to write down wat's our desire b/fast for that time. Then, we are given an envelope. We are to pick some pics in the envelope and stick it accordingly. The foods are not our desired food but the food that childs are having in the urban areas. Some even have not food to eat for a few days. Also, we are told that they need to walk 2 hours to get to school or to get a pail of clean n safe drinking water. Sum childs even picked dump food or rotten food as their meals. We are really lucky here cos we don't have to walk 2 hrs to school. We are having nice, delicious, nutritious and clean food to eat. There's another Famine Challenge, where we are to list down 8 most important items that needed to fulfill our daily needs. Then Aunty Kelly came to have a small NFC meeting with us abt Nic's collectibles items are on Bid. Soon after, Irene n I have been very busy walking ard the bidding area and of coz to place our bids. After that, we went back to the Arena for they'll be a special Famine performance. This performance is by Shaung Fu and Mei Men. It's an extremely touching performance. Although they are handicaps but they did a very good show. They'e been very verry strong and positive. Tears almost flow down my cheek when the Principle of Shuang Fu cried as they presented a lit'l sourvenior hand made by themselves. After the performance by Shuang Fu, it's the performance by "mei man". No doubt, they did a very good show as well. The leader is very positive and she even lead us to dance n sing "YMCA" along with them. We really enjoyed the whole session. After that, comes a performance by Daniel but not Daniel Lee lah ! Haha..... He's blind but he can sing very very well. When he sang, everyone applause and even sing along with him. Then, we started to switch on our torch-lights and handphone lights or mobile camera's flash. The whole arena is so beautiful as if there's lots of stars in the sky. We do fell a lit'l "hor sek" as he can't see this baeutiful, romantic and warm atmosphere. William did tell him wat he we did and he said he's very touched and he's really as if in his own solo concert. Thanks for every performers that have sone such a great, great, great show for us. After the performance, we are instructed to collect our luggange and place it next to us. At 4 pm we have a reflection n sharing session lead by the Principal of HELP University. As mentioned, Irene n I set off to the bidding area to find out the results. haha ! She won the bid of Nic's diary with RM308.80. Congrats ya ! We started with the closing ceremony at 5.30 pm. During this, we are being taught on how to mix our cereal, nutririon drink. We are also given banana flavour twiggies by gardenia and coco flavour soya bean by vitamilk. Once the intructions are cleared and we are near to our break fast time. We are also shown some slides of ourselves in the camp. Once that done we are 10 secs away to break fast..... wahahaha ! Here goes the c/down, 10, 9, 8,...... and 1 ! Yahoo..... it's 6 PM already. OMG ! Really unbelievable that we can make it ! We straved for 30 hours. Once it's over, some campers cried which I guess it's teas of happiness. We gave each other a big hug for being so successful. After all that we've gone thru, it's really not that tough to starve. I'll be sure to join next years Famine as well. This is such an meaningful n touching event and it's all about charity.Once dismiss, we gather for a group photos with all the other NFC angels and they rushed to One U for our dinner at Shogun. We had a nice dinner with my fave food, Jap's buffet. Irene n I gulp down lots but the rest just a lit'l. We told them that took the wrong type of food. Those food that the rest took are not worth of money and u'll fell full soon after. Wat a waste. It cost RM60 lah ! U guys shud learn form us to be most benefit eating a buffet. haha ! We reached home ard 12 am tired. I took a quick bathed and have a good sleep. Thx God that I'm on 1/2 day. Hahaha !

To all Famine Fighters and NFC angels.... you guys are really great ! Do fell proud of ourself for you guys did a great job !!!!!!!!! I'm really happy n glad to be part in the Famine 2007. I really enjoyed the whole camp till we dun fell hungry anymore thruout the whole camp. I know, we'll be able to do it again next year.

Oooohhh.... For Famine Fighters in the East, add oil.....add oil... gambateh ! U guys can make just like us ! All the best and do enjoy the camp ! Rmb, enjoy to the fullest !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
